A Journey from Grape Growers to Family-Owned Winery Excellence
Founded in 1972 by Al Scheid, who recognized the untapped potential of Monterey County's fledgling wine region, Scheid Family Wines has evolved from a grape-growing operation that sold 100% of its production to other wineries into a leading family-owned winery producing a diverse portfolio of branded wines. With vineyards spanning 70 miles of the Salinas Valley, the winery cultivates over 35 grape varieties, leveraging the region's unique microclimates and soils to produce exceptional wines.
Scheid Family Wines estate vineyards have been certified sustainable since 2014 and its estate winery since 2018 through the Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing program. The entire winery operation is powered by 100% renewable wind energy generated by a 400-foot-tall wind turbine, which also supplies enough energy for 125 homes in the local community.
The second generation, Scott and Heidi – along with our dream team of employees, are passionate about crafting the best wine possible and honoring our commitment to be good stewards of the land and supporters of our local community. We are proud to produce authentic products that sit on your dinner table and invite conversation, connection, and warmth.
